I Started a Weekly Newsletter — Want to Know what it’s all about?
I’ll be featuring movers and shakers in my community weekly, along with many other goodies!
I’ve wanted to start one for a while. I know I’m not alone. A lot of people say they’ll start one, and then they don’t. Well, I finally did.
For those of you who are like YES! Just sign me up! Here’s the link to sign up now. Click here.
For those of you who would like more information, I’ve got you. That’s what this entire post is about, so buckle up.
I just sent my first newsletter today.
I’m not sending them through Medium. I’m not doing it for a specific publication. I’m not getting paid for them in anyway. I’m just doing it.
There is something liberating about that. It feels good to just do something for the sake of wanting to do it. Creating for the purpose of creating.
Here’s the million dollar question though:
What will I *say* in my newsletter?
That’s the question that holds most people back, I think. It’s the question that held me back. For the longest time, I couldn’t come up with something that I thought people would care about enough to subscribe to my newsletter.
So, I decided to just get started anyway. As is often said: clarity comes with action.
I’m jumping in with both feet. I’m doing it.
And, here’s what I’ve come up with so far:
Please note: not everything listed here will be in every newsletter. I will provide a grab-bag of these selected topics each week.
Podcast Recommendations
I listen to a ridiculous amount of podcasts, mostly because I listen to them while I create art and sculpt. I love them. There always seems to be another podcast to listen to, and the BEST thing about them is that they’re FREE. So, I will feature my favorite podcasts in my newsletter.
Weekly Affirmations
I have a strong affirmation practice. If you haven’t read my article about affirmations here on Medium, I highly recommend that you do. It’s one of my favorite, and best-performing articles to date. Either way, though, I will share my weekly affirmation in my newsletter, along with some of my reflections on that affirmation after thinking about it all week.
Book Reviews
I will recommend and review books in my newsletter. I listen to a ton of audiobooks, for the same reason I listen to a lot of podcasts — they are fun for me to listen to while I’m doing my visual artwork. So, I will share my book recommendations, mostly in the genre of self-help, growth, and mindfulness. I’ll throw in an occasional review outside of that box, but that’s going to be the bread and butter of that category.
Favorite Recipes
Every now and again I’ll throw in my favorite recipes — ones that come from someone else, and ones that come from me. I’ve already published a few of my favorite recipes here on Medium, but believe me, I have more!
Recaps of my Thankful Thursday videos
If you’re not friends with me on Facebook, you might not know that I do Thankful Thursday videos every week as part of my gratitude practice. I say 3 things I’m thankful for that week, and encourage others to make a Facebook live video where they do the same, or comment on my live and tell me what they’re thankful for that week. I’m going to try to figure out how to imbed the video. Either that, or I’ll put them all up on a youtube channel. Not sure yet, but eventually, they will be there.
Featured Friend
I will feature a friend each week who is a member of the newsletter community, tell everyone what they’re up to, and promote whatever it is that they have going on — books, websites, podcasts, art, Etsy, you name it. It will be a short feature, but will give just enough information for you to find out more and connect if you’re interested.
You can only be featured if you join the newsletter community — that should be good incentive, no?
Any other relevant and non-relevant information that I think you might find amusing
Yep, I reserve the right to add anything I’d like to this list. Big life announcements, challenges, events, etc. Really, like it says, anything I think you might find amusing.
And there you have it — so far, those are the things that will be in my news letter.
